Following the successful premiere in September, we are focusing on further developing the event concept. In 2026, the competition will be expanded to include an additional 13-kilometre distance in the Taurachtal valley, and a children's trail and a Nordic walking competition have also been introduced. Another new feature is the option to complete the Fanningberg Trail in a 3-person relay and to compete in a team classification. Both of these variants focus on shared experiences and teamwork.

Successful premiere of the Lungau TAUERN KRONE Challenge
On 6 September, the Lungau TAUERN KRONE Challenge celebrated its successful premiere with almost 200 participants. The five different trail running competitions started in the municipalities of Mauterndorf, Mariapfarr, St. Andrä, Lessach and Prebersee. Hikers also took part in the 10-kilometre route starting at Prebersee. The event thus offered an unforgettable experience for both ambitious athletes and leisure hikers. Victory in the supreme discipline – the Fanningbergtrail over 44 kilometres and 2,320 metres of altitude difference – was secured by Johanna Bucher from the Salzburg Trailrunning Festival Team and Karl Aumayr.
